Putting a plan in action to assure your satisfaction.

Eddie Mauro is a Des Moines native, born and raised in the 3rd Congressional District. Outside of a few years spent teaching in rural Iowa, he is proud to have grown up, worked, played and raised a family alongside the very same people that he is poised to represent. His experience in education, business, coaching, volunteering and community advocacy has prepared him to take the lead on the challenges facing Iowa families. He’s ready and willing to step up and be a voice for positive change in the halls of Congress.

In both his professional and personal life, Eddie works hard to put people in positions that help them succeed. He believes that unrealized opportunities are standing in the way of moving Iowa from good to great. He is committed to empowering citizens in the district to be more invested and vocal in their communities and local government and become positive agents for change.

The creation of A Mid-Iowa Organizing Strategy (AMOS) — an advocacy group working for social justice in Central Iowa — is a prime example of Eddie walking the talk. As a founding member of AMOS, he helped shape a movement that would help organize people to influence decision makers who impact areas like workforce development, health care, affordable housing, criminal and juvenile justice, mental health and more. And now, through the collaboration of more than 28 institutions working under the AMOS umbrella, the organization is helping thousands of people re-enter public life and reclaim responsibility for their futures.

A graduate of Simpson College with a degree in Education, Eddie also holds a certificate of Theology from Creighton University. Initially following in his father’s footsteps, he dedicatedmuch of his early career to helping Iowa youth reach their full potential as a coach and teacher at Seymour Community Schools and Saint Anthony School in Des Moines. Later, Eddie served as baseball and assistant football coach at Dowling High School for more than 20 years. He spent 10 years of his tenure as the Dowling head baseball coach, leading two teams to state championships. He also coached at Lincoln and North High Schools in Des Moines, as well as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC).

Currently, as a small business owner, Eddie is the President of UIG, an innovative wholesale insurance firm serving insurance agencies and small business owners in Iowa and across the US.

He also serves on several boards and committees for the South Suburban YMCA of Greater Des Moines, Iowa Catholic Conference and Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa. Eddie is also a dedicated youth sports coach and volunteers for impactful local organizations, including the YMCA Board of Managers and the Knights of Columbus.
